So we get on the plane all ready to go, and we´re about 100 feet from the runway... Then the captain notifies us of a rerouting do to weather with a, ¨We´ll be on our way in a few.¨ An hour and a half later we take off and land in Cancun at about 4:30 pm. After the million and one touts advertising cheap 40 dollar taxi rides or 20 dollar shuttles, we realized that all the airport workers must have a way home every day. So we asked around til we found the public bus for $3.50. That took us to downtown, where we proceded to fumble around until we found our place, Hostel Kankun, the infamous ¨cheapest place in Cancun¨. We checked in, dropped our bags, and headed out to find some food. We saw a little seafood place called Pescaditos, with plenty of happy faces, so we knew it had to be good. After some fish sticks (mexican style), chips, and some cold brew, we went back to the hotel to wash the day´s grime away and fall asleep. Thalita was out by 8:30 pm which left me lying awake with no tv, just listening to the fan, and wishing it would go faster.
The next morning we make our way by bus to Puerto Juarez, to take the ferry to Isla Mujeres. We find a nice hotel for relatively cheap, and then made our way to the beach.
Stupid, white, and stubborn would be great ways to describe my first day at the beach with sunblock only applied to my face. What a tard. Two hours later i´m done, roasted like a christmas turkey. Thalita on the other hand, with her Brazilian heritage, managed to squeek by the red, and straight to golden brown. Puta.
After this, back to the hotel for a cold shower, some lotion, and a siesta. We went back out about 6 to eat something and then strolled around for a bit. Then more and more lotion on sunburn. That leads us to today, and being inside on the internet.

Packing Up

-17 °C

This foto is just a couple weeks before we head out. I only have 1 more day at work, Thalita only has 3, a we couldn't be more done with it! We're in the middle of packing and repacking, as we try to eliminate nonessentials to make everything lighter and easier to travel with. Its a challenge, but rewarding to travel with small packs. June 16 here we come!

It's 3:05 in the morning and we're starting to pack our junk up for storage. Every day brings us closer and closer to our trip and we can both feel the excitement building. It's going to be damn nice to be off work for 6 months.
